| Reminders - Monday, September 08, 2008Lenswood Rural Reminders & Advice
CHERRY trees have a short production season, nutrients are utilised very early in the spring growth period, these nutrients come from storage sites within the tree, therefore CHERRIES require fertiliser to be applied after harvest, befroe leaf fall. Fertilisers should be applied well before leaves begin to turn yellow AND watered in, or applied with an irrigation. Apply NITROGEN and POTASSIUM. Foliar spray TRACE elements as required, usually zinc, manganese and boron. APPLES may be sprayed with UREA after harvest to improve next seasons fruit buds. read more ...
| Disease Warning Service. - Monday, September 08, 20082008 -2009 There were several outbreaks of Powdery Mildew in vines again this season, in the same spots as last season. Be better prepared for NEXT season, maintain a tight protection programme, use several different chemical groups and use at least 2 stoby sprays over flowering. Use higher volumnes of water, add a wetter with mixes. Call into Lenswood to discuss your vineyard spray programme, BEFORE the next season begins.
